Dr. Kurt
Kurtis Hallgren, DVM, CVSMT

Veterinarian

Dr. Kurt Hallgren grew up on a small beef and sheep farm in Niagara, Wisconsin. He earned his undergraduate degree in Animal Science from UW-River Falls and graduated from the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Throughout his career, Dr. Kurt has practiced both large and small animal medicine, with a particular interest in surgical cases.

In 2016, Dr. Kurt became certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (VSMT) through the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Sturtevant, WI—one of only three accredited schools in the country offering VSMT certification. He also passed the International Competency Examination, earning membership in the College of Animal Chiropractic.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Kurt enjoys life with his family of three and their lively menagerie of pets. This includes four Labrador Retrievers—Early, Ramsy, Granite, and RoJr—along with Jerry, an Airedale Terrier, Razz the ball python, Marsha the rabbit, and a flock of chickens. He has a passion for hunting, training, and competing in retriever field trials.

Dr. Bill
William Kunde, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Kunde, a native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh before earning his veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He has a special interest in canine and feline dental care, internal medicine, and reptile medicine and surgery.

Dr. Kunde and his wife, Peggy, have been married for 40 years and share a full house with five children, seven grandchildren, four dogs, seven cats, a cockatoo, and an African Grey Parrot. Outside of work, Dr. Kunde enjoys upland bird hunting and serves as a committee member for the Northeast Wisconsin chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society.

Dr. Stephanie
Stephanie Kuhle-Riewe, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Stephanie Kuhle-Riewe earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in May 2014, following her undergraduate studies at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Originally from Des Moines, IA, she grew up surrounded by a variety of pets, including a pot-bellied pig named Wilbur, a guinea pig named Spot, a cockatiel named Tweety, an Amazon parrot named Max, several cats, a Maltese named Cupid, and her cherished Dachshund, Scarlett. Her passion for animals deepened during an internship at a Wisconsin family dairy farm in 2007, sparking her love for the state, where she has lived ever since.

Dr. Stephanie resides in Oconto with her husband, Kenny, their children, Wyatt and Riley, and their dog, Duke. She considers it a privilege to fulfill her lifelong dream of helping animals and is dedicated to building strong relationships with clients and their pets. Her deep appreciation for the bond between people and their animals inspires her work every day.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Stephanie enjoys spending time with her children, taking walks with Duke, swimming, reading, helping with farm chores, and relaxing with family and friends.

Dr. Sara
Sara Burk, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Sara Burk, a native of Two Rivers, WI, earned her undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.

With over 24 years of experience in small animal medicine in the Fox Valley area, Dr. Burk has developed a particular interest in internal medicine, behavior, and feline care. Throughout her career, she has balanced her professional passions with raising three children, a journey she deeply values.

In her free time, Dr. Burk enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband, Sam, and their dogs. Her favorite activities include camping, hiking, kayaking, gardening, and crafting.

Our staff is organized into several specialized departments:

Hospital Attendant

Ann, our dedicated hospital attendant, provides attentive care for pets during their stay, whether recovering from an illness or following a surgical procedure. She ensures that every animal has clean bedding, food, water, and exercise. Ann is supported by a caring and capable group of assistants on weekends and after hours.

Client Care Specialists

Our friendly client care specialists Danielle, Bailey, Haddie, and Carlee are here to assist you during check-in and check-out. They are happy to answer your questions about medications, invoices, or other concerns to ensure your visit is as smooth as possible.

Surgical Assistants

Allison, Danielle, Kortney, and Morgan make up our skilled surgical assistant team. They monitor your pet during surgery and recovery, ensuring their safety and comfort. They also provide dental cleanings, giving your pet a bright, healthy smile.

Laboratory Assistants

Dawn and Nancy run our advanced in-house laboratory, capable of performing a wide range of diagnostic tests to support the doctors’ evaluations. They also prepare and send samples to specialized veterinary labs when needed for further analysis.

Veterinary Assistants

Sara, Dawn, Sophie, Danielle, Kortney, Morgan, and Amber assist our veterinarians in the exam rooms, expertly recording and maintaining medical records while providing outstanding nursing care. They also support the team in the treatment area, ensuring seamless care before, during, and after appointments.
