VetTriage Telehealth Services

VetTriage provides round-the-clock access to licensed veterinarians through live video consultations. For a small fee, VetTriage can help you determine whether your pet requires immediate care or can be safely monitored at home until our clinic reopens. Recognizing Common Pet Emergencies

We recommend you seek emergency care as soon as you recognize severe symptoms in your pet. Common signs that your pet requires urgent attention include:

Difficulty breathing or choking

Severe vomiting or diarrhea lasting more than 24 hours

Unresponsiveness or sudden collapse

Visible injuries, bleeding, or fractures

Difficulty urinating or defecating

Ingestion of toxic substances

Safe Over-the-Counter Medications for Pets

In some cases, over-the-counter medications may help alleviate minor issues while you arrange for professional care. Please follow these guidelines as carefully as possible to prevent complications.

Recommendations:

  • Pepto: For vomiting, diarrhea, or straining

    • Dogs: 1 tablespoon per 25 lbs every 8 hours
    • Cats: ½ teaspoon every 8 hours
  • Benadryl: For allergic reactions

    • Dogs (over 15 lbs): 25 mg every 6 hours
    • Dogs (under 15 lbs): 12.5 mg every 6 hours
    • Cats: 12.5 mg every 8 hours
  • Milk of Magnesia: For constipation or straining

    • Dogs & Cats: ½ teaspoon per 10 lbs twice daily
